Bulcock Beach is popular for weddings, gathering with friends or families who have young children, as there’s often warm paddling pools on the sand to splash in at low tide. The boardwalk spans most of the coastline here, in full view of the sparkling blue waters that lead into the Pumicestone Passage.
There’s a strip of cool cafes and restaurants across the road. The beach is patrolled from September to May, and there’s a great little surf break at the point. The grassy park area at nearby Happy Valley is ideal for frisbee, ball games and hours of sun-drenched playtime.
For walking, biking and scooters, you have lots of paths and the long wooden boardwalk to explore. Fishing enthusiasts are in luck, as there are gentle tides, shallow sandbars and a great variety of species waiting to be caught and cooked on one of the beachside barbecues. Also highly recommended is a peaceful swim in the gentle currents of the river inlet, with its large sandbar making perfect splashing spots.
Set back from the beach and the shops in Bulcock Beach, are many apartments and high-rise hotels such as Rumba Beach Resort and Breakfree Grand Pacific offering apartment style accommodation overlooking the spectacular Bribie Island Marine Park and beyond to the Glasshouse Mountains.
Being right near the middle of town means you’re just a few minutes from the Events Centre offering regular shows and entertainment and the Caloundra Street Fair Sunday markets.
